Interesting fact: The Bible plus ancient lit refers a lot to Jesus being hung on a tree, and at first glance, most think that it's simply referrng to the wooden cross. However,a look at historical background shows that criminals were often actually crucified ON A TREE. The Romans would get a sturdy tree, uprot it, cut off the branches and roots, and then nail on the crossbeam (along with the criminal) before sliding the tree trunk into a hole in the groud to prop it up.
